Reflections

National PTA Reflections

National PTA has a long-standing commitment to arts education. The Reflections program provides opportunities for recognition and access to the arts which boost student confidence and success in the arts and in life.

Each year, over 300,000 students in Pre-K through Grade 12 create original works of art in response to a student-selected theme. This 50+ year-old program helps them explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life.

ATTENTION:

Those that turned in physical artwork can pick it up in the front office in the Reflections bin.

Award of Excellence

Amelie Wang

My artwork is related to the theme because the girl is holding a torch, and the torch is lighting the path. I think that the torch represents hope. My artworks meaning is even through darkness there is light.

Award of Merit

Sophia Nigbor
5th Grade

Artist Statement
My art piece represents I am Hopeful Because I Am Enough. I featured a silhouette of myself filled with qualities that will lead me to success. These qualities include being kind, loving, happy, artistic, athletic, flexible, strong, and smart. When I stay true to myself and these qualities, my future will be bright.

Honorable mention

Aarnavi Bommineni
3rd Grade

Artist Statement
I chose visual arts for the theme "I am Hopeful Because...". Using this art, I tried to show different things that inspire me to be hopeful in life. Despite difficulties in each stage, if we put effort in without losing hope, we can achieve our dreams. Like a seed that grows into a tree surviving different weather conditions, or a small egg to caterpillar into cocoon that transforms into a beautiful butterfly, or our own victory against viruses/diseases like COVID19, I am strong and hopeful.

Literature

award of excellence

Christian Pamilar

Artist Statement
I wrote a poem about the things I am hopeful for. Each line of my poem has a word that starts with the letter that spells out HOPEFUL.
